I got a T-5 a while ago. Taylor named the guitar the T-5 because of the 5 different ways they combine the 3 pickups. I am pretty much using mine as an electric acoustic guitar for a solo acoustic act. I could not find a factory sound out of the guitar that I thought was convincing enough to play an all-night acousic show on it. Other than the way it sounded, I was loving the guitar.
I did a little reading on Al Gore’s internets and found out that some people had added a piezo pickup under the bridge. I had a Baggs Element that I had purchased for another guitar but hadn’t gotten around to installing so I decided to try that.
I am happy to report that it now kicks some serious ass. It has a very convincing acoustic electric sound and because of the small F-holes, instead of a round hole, there are no feedback issues.
